Verbal Behavior & Communication Technician
ELIGIBILTY STANDARDS / Admission Requirement
- A minimum of Secondary school leaving Certificate or its Equivalent
- Age: 18 years and above
- Therapists, Parent/Guardian
- Provision of Police report/Criminal Background Report or Sworn Court Affidavit
- A video clip of a demonstrated specified skills procedure to be attested to by the supervisor as evidence/proof of experiential learning
Coursework Requirement
• A minimum of 42- classroom hours in Verbal Behavior Analysis – CONTENT:
- An Introduction to Verbal Behavior Analysis
- Autism and related developmental disabilities/medical conditions with associate communication and language disorders
- Developmental milestones
- Ethics, Safe Manual handling, Prevention of Abuse
- Assessments based on Operant Equation: A – B – C and Interpretation of Intervention plan
- The 12 mains domains of Verbal Behavior
- Assessment of Reinforcers/ Cultural sensitivity, Selection & Development of Intervention resource materials
- Capturing Motivation/Facilitative/Directive Interaction Naturalistic Teaching Versus Contrived Teaching and Activity-Based Intervention
- Discrete Trial Instruction/Prompts/Types of Prompts, Effective Commands & Discrimination Training
- Schedules for reinforcement and Reinforcement effectiveness
- Basic functional Sign Language and Effective use of Functional Communication Album-African Version/ other Augmented Language Apparatus and Data collection/ graphing
