ELIGIBILTY STANDARDS / Admission Requirement
- A minimum of Secondary school leaving Certificate or its Equivalent
- Age: 18 years and above
- Therapists, Parent/Guardian
- Provision of Police report/Criminal Background Report or Sworn Court Affidavit
- A video clip of a demonstrated specified skills procedure to be attested to by the supervisor as evidence/proof of experiential learning
Coursework Requirement
• Minimum of 65-classroom hours in Developmental Therapy – CONTENT:
- Introduction to Developmental Disabilities
- Professionalism and Ethics/Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act [FERPA]
- Early childhood Intervention and Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Coordination of Family, School, and Community
- Orientation of Role of Developmental Specialist [DS] for Children (Ages 3-17)
- Child Development
- Safety in the home, Center, and community
- Behavioral challenges
- Testing and Assessment
- Basic Instructional Interaction
- Data Collection and Evaluation
- Supervision of Paraprofessionals
- Use and Maintenance of Assistive Technology
